Mounting a Depth Finder on a Pontoon Boat Follow

To mount a depth finder on a pontoon boat you must transom mount the transducer. 

When transom mounting a transducer on a pontoon boat try to mount the transducer on the starboard side pontoon.  However, if mounting on the starboard side is not possible, it is ok to mount it on the port side (keep in mind that readings may not be stable all the time because the upstroke of the propeller on the port side causes pulses to be directed toward the transducer which interferes with the SONAR sound waves). 

Guidelines for Transducer Mounting:

• Most pontoons have a bracket on the back of the pontoon that was made for attaching transducers. 

• To be able to obtain readings while on plane the transducer MUST be mounted below the pontoon so that it is in clean (turbulence-free) water. 
• Most pontoons have a strake down the center for stability.  When mounting the transducer, try to mount it as far away (to the port or starboard) from the strake as possible.
